Chilling challenge by Taylor, Birmingham City, on Eduardo Da Silva, Arsenal

Brazilian striker Eduardo Da Silva of Arsenal broke his leg in the third minute of the match between his side, Arsenal, and Birmingham City at St Andrew’s stadium. Everything points to a fracture of the tibia and fibula.
The injury was caused by a heavy challenge from Martin Taylor of Birmingham City, who was shown a straight red card immediately. Da Silva had to be carried off the pitch on a stretcher, after more than ten minutes, and with oxygen, completely covered to hide the extent of the injury. The Birmingham City player studded his boot into the shin of the standing leg while the Brazilian was turning.
Those responsible for examining the case and deciding the punishment should sanction the offending player in an exemplary manner, since challenges like this are usually deliberate, and the penalties are often insignificant compared with the time the injured player takes to recover.
