David Nalbandian, two months out with a hernia

Argentine tennis player David Nalbandian, currently ranked number 19 in the world, will miss the next two months of the season due to an untimely inguinal hernia. The Córdoba native, despite having played with pain for several weeks, has been forced to stop after his injury worsened following his most recent matches.
Nalbandian was already told about his hernia back in February, after being eliminated in the quarterfinals of the Buenos Aires tournament, yet he kept playing, which is common with this type of injury, as athletes can often continue competing despite being physically compromised. However, in his last Davis Cup match against Adrian Ungur, the injury took a turn for the worse, forcing him to undergo surgery.
Following the operation, the Argentine will be sidelined for at least two months, although the injury could mean a longer layoff given how complicated his recovery tends to be, combined with the great importance of the groin area in tennis.
This is not the first serious injury Nalbandian has suffered, as just one year ago he returned to the professional circuit after 9 months out following hip surgery. Once again, injuries are halting the progress of one of the most complete players on tour just as he was getting back among the best rackets on the planet.
